The people of Sackville, New Brunswick were shocked
in 1832 when William Fawcett was shot through the kitchen window while attending to his
evening devotions. When reporting his murder the New Brunswick Royal Gazette described Mr.
Fawcett as "a man of most amiable character, mild, inoffensive and retiring in his
manners; he probably never wilfully offended any person; and has died universally
regretted by all who knew him." At the Coroner's Inquest the residents were
overwhelmed when they heard the evidence and discovered who was being charged with the
crime.

and times of the early Yorkshire settlers in Atlantic Canada.
