Pat Buie graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Toronto in 1975. After a year off, backpacking through Europe, she worked as an R.N. at Sunnybrook Medical Centre, Toronto, in Orthopaedics and Trauma .
In 1979, Pat moved to Collingwood, Ontario where she was employed as a Public Health Nurse for 5 years. Her duties included teaching prenatal classes. After the birth of her first daughter in 1984, Pat retired from full-time nursing, but continued to teach prenatal classes in the evenings for the next 8 years.
In 1996 the author graduated with her B.of Ed. from York University in Toronto. Presently she is a supply teacher for the Simcoe County Board of Education.  Pat and her husband Neil are the parents of 3 children, all who confirm the method.  Their son was planned.
